Follow the Brown Rabbit...

In stories we've heard and seen, some followed a White Rabbit that led them to adventure. This time however, you've followed a BROWN one named Padawan. Pada lived in our house, hopped on tiled floor, ate under the table, urinated&defecated by the door leading outside, and outlived 11 others.
I name this Blog after him.The brown rabbit who shared the same skin color as his surrogate family.Resilient&adaptive.Adventurous in his own rabbit way. October 2002 - April 2007

Jampacked Weekend

I LOOOOOOVE my weekend!

I finally did it.

This may sound shallow but it is A BIG DEAL for me. Using my own HARD-EARNED money, I purchased something bigger than clothes and shoes ;) Aside from the fact that I bombarded my friends and sisters and their boyfriends about this for more than a week, I think that I finally made my own decision last Friday. I went on my own, withdrew cash, and did it.

I bought HER.

I spent my Friday night, my Saturday morning, my Saturday afternoon, my Saturday night, the transition between Saturday and Sunday, and the rest of my Sunday with HER. And I'll be spending more beautiful YEARS with HER. Although this would sound better if it were a he, she does not look like anything but a she . I quote Franco (my sister's Franco, not mine)... "She's pretty."

I don't have a photo of her but I have hundreds of photos from her. :)

SO HERE ARE THE BITS AND PIECES OF MY BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND...
An afternoon in Crustasia with my family and Franco.
My younger sister and "new mentor", Nikki.
A visit to the cemetery.
And a shot from my headboard.

Photo Essay

I don't like breaking promises.

And as I promised last night, you'll be seeing A LOT of me for the next few days. So here I am fulfilling my little promise. ;)

I don't mind that my "Piso for your thoughts" below doesn't have a single PISO in it. ;P I'm blogging baby and nobody can stop me, mwahahaha!

I was supposed to have a SoulMix shoot today but we had to move it because Jesuit Communications had to wrap up another shoot. Too bad coz I was a bit excited to get my copy of the last ep! ;) On the brighter side, this meant more time for me to finish my transcripts that are taking forever to finish. (I'm transcribing some of my observations for our research which I am not going to explain further in this blog.)

For some reason, transcribing my observations is one of the most tedious jobs I've ever had. I'd rather walk under the heat of the sun and traverse MILES of jagged rocks rather than stay in front of my laptop to type my own notes. (recently, I notice that I get bored easily.)

So anyway since I got "tired" from all the deciphering, I took a lot of mini-breaks and ended up doing another one of my favorite things. Aside from sleeping, dancing, zipping, writing, and being with family, friends&Franco, another thing I love is... EATING!

Who doesn't? (That's Deb, moi, and Denise with Baby Kaden inside her tummy :P)

So together with Ling and her boyfriend, Marco,

I spent an afternoon in our kitchen eating this sinful chocolate cake and my mom's homemade chicken sandwich. Those plus Chips Ahoy (25% reduced fat), Meiji's Yan-Yan, and Magnolia low fat milk. It's funny how we end up talking about other food while eating already yummy ones (as if what we have isn't appetizing enough and then we end up discussing other food that we wish we still had).

Anywhoo, the three of us came up with a list of food that we miss! Manufacturers no longer manufacture them and they're just as yummy as they could get in our heads.

Food Item #1: Chips Ahoy Stripes. Whatever happened to my favorite Chips Ahoy Stripes??? It's the one in the white package and with the yummiest chocolate ever! AAAAH, heaven!

Food Item #2: Mickey Mouse Funwich. It's the one with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two Mickey Mouse heads. Think Presto's Funwich with Mickey Mouse shaped chocolate sandwiches. YUMMY!

Food Item #3: Smores cereal. Unfortunately, it was only Marco who could remember this. Ling and I don't recall eating cereal with graham crackers covered in chocolate with tiny marshmallows. Do you? It sounds good and I could just imagine it but I haven't tried it ever.

Food Item #4: Flinstone's Vitamins. Believe it or not, I've never tried those vitamins and I wanna try them!!! hahaha. I could still remember that ad -- "Ate why are you wearing mommy's skirt? Because. Why are you wearing mommy's shoes? Because. Why are you wearing mommy's makeup? Because."

Food Item #5: DIPDIP! Remember Dipdip? They're thinner and smaller than today's Breadstix. And they came in different flavors like barbecue, pizza, or original. Ahh, memories of my Grade school recess! And the best part is LOCALLY MADE (yata) siya!

Food Item #6: Coney Island Bubble Gum Ice Cream! pati yung creamy Sailboat, Clown, Banana, Boy (?) Girl (?) ice cream on stick. YUM

Food Item #7: Ok, this last one is still being manufactured but for some reason it's no longer found in the market as much as the other chocolates are... my ALL-TIME FAVORITE TWIX! There are two versions of it in the market and I'm craving for the original version!!! I will love you if you give me that version! Franco found six of them in Cebu and gave them all to me. I was like a little girl that day when I saw all the TWIXes! I shared the calories with my sisters of course ;)

Although we no longer have these food items mentioned above (or on its way to extinction as in the case of my favorite Twix chocolate bars), I think we still have other great stuff in the market.

Food Item #1: the classic flat tops & curly tops :)
Food Item #2: MILO chocolate bar (the one without the wafer), I swear it's the yummiest grainy chocolate ever! (I'm not into grainy chocolate but this one has Milo powder grains which actually makes it better!)
Food Item #3: Cloud 9!!! 'nuff said.
Food Item #4: we still have Cerelac wheat, HA!

Food Item #5: And have you tried EAJI of San Miguel? Those are the nacho chips with dips that range from cheese to mayo bbq to garlic cheese and each only costs P18. Naks.

OK, enough of the junk food. I can only eat so much of them anyway.
In case they all disappear from the market (although highly unlikely), I think I'd still be able to live. I'd simply savor all of them in my memory.

But if my all-time favorite DRINK gets extinct, I will no longer survive. Come to think of it, neither will you. For me, nothing beats a BIG BOTTLE OF WATER :)

My entry didn't make much sense and that's how it is supposed to be coz this girl is about to start her much-awaited SEMESTRAL BREAK!

never ever the same

I wrote a looong post earlier in Word Document so I could "copy paste" it later on (thinking that it would be much easier) but I think my plan back-fired. I deleted it.

How is that possible??? By some bizarre reason, I can't find it anywhere in my files. Maybe it wasn't meant to be posted tonight? Or maybe I'd just find it somewhere sometime soon. Oh well. When it's time, it's time.

I thought I wrote a witty essay actually (haha, my word against nobody else's) but I can't seem to write it again from memory (argh). I know it will come out corny somehow. And it won't be the same as the one I wrote the first time... so I will no longer try to reconstruct it (at least not yet).

Just so I won't leave my blog blank again, I decided to write something. ANYTHING. Hence, this post.

BUT then, for another bizarre reason, I found this in one of my files. Since it's written, all set, and just waiting to be published... here it is.

I'm unleashing some of my random thoughts once again. Enjoy :)

Sometimes you look back at your past and then you tell yourself, it was not necessarily sad. It was just over, thus you call it the past. But sometimes things aren't really as over as you thought they were. At the same time, some things are truly over when they're over. How do we know which is which? That's the thing, we can never be too sure but at the same time, we know that we just know.

But no matter what everyone else says, everything that happened happened because you chose it. You had a hand in it. You had a hand in everything. So embrace what you did, what you've done, what you've learned. And you'll come out feeling lighter.

The butterfly effect.
(oooh, I am so not fond of butterflies as much as I am not fond of flowers.
it's one of my quirks that I just have to live with. But this is besides the point.)

It fascinates me how we are all interconnected to one another. The Butterfly Effect. They say that when a butterfly flaps its wings in one part of the world, this gentle gush of wind may soon turn into a tornado in another part of the world.

It's one of the most beautiful and scariest things, don't you think?

If this did not make any sense to you, it's fine. :) But if you found yourself nodding in agreement, shaking your head with a firm 'no', or simply thinking about it even just for a short while, then that's much much much better.

May you have beautiful days ahead. You'll be seeing more of me for the next few days ;)

For those who love to look at photos more than read words, here's a photograph of my sister. I did her make-up. She did her hair. I fixed her top and took this shot of her back.

It ain't over til it's...

To my dearest friends,

I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm still alive and kicking!

My semestral break will hopefully start tomorrow after I submit the last few requirements for this semester. But yes, my title says it all. It's not yet over. I have one last looooooong streeeeeetch of papers to finish. But the heaviest part of the semester has gone by. And yes, I am semi-rejoicing at the moment.

I was finally able to go out last Friday night (Happy Birthday, TATA! And special thanks to Kix for driving for me. And to Eng for making Kix drive! haha) but I was too tired the next day (yesterday) and I ended up sleeping early on a Saturday night. Yes, I slept. And that was my lame reason why I was not able to join SPINDEPENCE. Next month, I will definitely be there. :)

For now, I'll meet up with some of my girlfriends whom I haven't seen in a month!! Then after I've gathered some good-vibe-energy from them, I'll start my papers again.

I hope everyone's having a beautiful Sunday! Have a wonderful weekend ahead! And in case anyone is experiencing what I've been experiencing for the past weeks... take it easy. Take a breather.

News Update: One of my treasured fellow "hiphoppers" gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter...
That's Tita Irene and her baby Dani. :)

OCTOBER 24
Having a little fun with Ling... ;)

We helped out pipboy with his new project so I took my makeup kit and had a little fun with Ling this morning.

This is the "aftermath". Our make-up has already faded and we had just finished eating a hearty lunch. Too tired to move, we just rested on the sofa and continued our never-ending photoshoot... ;)

Coming Soon: Rest of the photos from the real shoot.

Pati kuryente at tubig nawala. Walang katapusang paghahanda. Marami pa ang parating. Eto na po ang isa pa...

Parating na si Neneng.

On a "happier" note.
Minsan sa may Katipunan tayo. Nagkakilala. Nagkatagpo.
Manalo. Matalo.
Sa 'yo pa rin ako.

Whooohoooo.
Win or lose.
It's the school we choose.
I learned to love the game... BUT my favorite team lost. :(

Nonetheless...
Congratulations, UST! :)

They were teasing me in Jesuit Communications because I was cheering loud and proud during the SoulMix shoot. (I intentionally wrapped up fast so I could catch the 4th quarter!) Soon, there I was... cheering for JC Intal, Chris Tiu and Macky Escalona, crossing my fingers, clasping my mouth, and screaming at the top of my lungs (Of course not all at the same time).

Then, there was the overtime. Five minutes flew so fast. Ateneo lost. I literally felt my energy level go down and ended up dragging my bags on my way out of the building.

But no... it was a good game...

The last words I heard were "Better luck next time!"
I laughed.
I still believe!
Can't wait for UAAP Season 70, baby!!!
