Follow the Brown Rabbit...

In stories we've heard and seen, some followed a White Rabbit that led them to adventure. This time however, you've followed a BROWN one named Padawan. Pada lived in our house, hopped on tiled floor, ate under the table, urinated&defecated by the door leading outside, and outlived 11 others.
I name this Blog after him.The brown rabbit who shared the same skin color as his surrogate family.Resilient&adaptive.Adventurous in his own rabbit way. October 2002 - April 2007

The perfect Season

Hello everyone! :) I am finally back!

It has been one whole week since I finished fixing my bedroom (painting and all) but I haven't been able to blog because of several things. Amidst my interview transcripts, Christmas parties, zipping classes, and lots of "Christmas responsibilities", I found myself confined in my bedroom again last weekend, getting my bi-annual sore throat, cough, and colds. :T

I still have my cough right now but I'm back on my hands typing. ;)

Lo and behold, getting sick gave me time to reflect and view life in another perspective.

I just know that I will be back on my feet doing other things SOON. I am actually chanting a MANTRA to myself right now: I WILL STAY HEALTHY. HEALTHY. HEALTHY. HEALTHY. I know this will work and I will be in an illness-free state for years to come! :)

After painting my walls and then re-arranging the things in my room (with the help of our house help, Alan, I was able to move my study table, our bookshelves, and headboard to where they are now. Our closets had to stay in their places as they were not the moveable type), I have embraced my first kind of change for the season.

And it's sending out all these good vibes! Now, I am re-discovering and rekindling my love for another art.

It has been with me ever since but it's just recently that I've given it much thought. And the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. It actually made PERFECT SENSE!

FOR DREAMS TO COME TRUE
I want you to meet a good college friend of mine, Carmie Locsin. Both of us were among the few in our Psych block who decided to teach young kids after college. Right now, Carms continues to do that but also finds room for another one of her dreams. . .

"Hi, I'm Carmie. And I hope to become a great make-up artist someday!" ---I made that up in my mind but I could just imagine her saying those exact words.

She is organized, prompt, and passionate about what she does. Her hands are light and gentle. She is very much gracious to all her models. And she has made this BIG BIG ROOM for learning in her life that she fills with each experience, big or small. With all these, I really believe that she will get there soon. :)

She just recently finished her course in the Center for Aesthetic Studies (CAS) located at the building of Franck Provost along Jupiter street. She attended classes three nights per week (M-W-F) after her 7am-3pm preschool classes! She didn't tell much people about it until it was done. And she did it! She finally did it! BRAVO, Carms! :)

As part of their culminating activity, they were to create different "make-up looks" and have their own portfolio. Their graduation is like hitting two birds with one stone. This is where I enter the picture. Carms asked me to model for her and I was more than willing to be of help, not knowing that in the process of helping her out with her dream, I was slowly building mine as well. :)

Yes, you read it correctly, I do want to try a shot in modeling. After years of just trying bits and pieces of things, I ask myself... "can I?" Like Carmie, I want to say YES to that question. And like Carmie, I am more than happy to learn more in this industry.

Because right now, all I know is based on these few things...

Experience is one of the best teachers.
I tried modeling several times. A couple of ramps in high school and college in events where height requirements were not so strict because I stand at 5'3 1/2". ;) And then I had photoshoots for a friend's cousin's new line of bags, for individual artists' portfolios, and then finally for Carmie. Each time, I learned something new. And I loved it!

Modeling is an art. I love it when there are themes to dramatize or looks to establish. Getting that single look that your photographer and artist want from you is my favorite challenge. Getting that particular expression at that particular angle at a particular time can be sometimes frustrating but also the most rewarding when you see the end result and all you could mutter to yourself is... "wow, I did that..." with a hint of disbelief and awe.

And I want to experience MORE! I truly believe that it is an art and I want to learn more about it. If anyone out there could help me or Carmie with one of our dreams, just send me a message. :)

Here are Carmie's works and a few of mine.

Halu lala! Ria C. here. I want to share with you and your friend one of my fave (and idol!) LJ bloggers and "artist". She's a makeup artist pero her creations, for me, are so fantastic and inspiring. =)

http://community.livejournal.com/_eye_candy_/731072.html#cutid1

And another one: http://community.livejournal.com/_eye_candy_/730305.html#cutid1

These are just a few of her creations. If you go to the eye_candy community homepage which she is a member, ang dami pa niyang posts din. She is suckmyxkissx pero marami rin ibang makeup afficionados ang nagko-converge sa LJ community na ito. Some might find her style a bit extreme but I just love how she makes everything so surreal but still right and beautiful. Hope you and your friend Carms like it. =)
