Follow the Brown Rabbit...

In stories we've heard and seen, some followed a White Rabbit that led them to adventure. This time however, you've followed a BROWN one named Padawan. Pada lived in our house, hopped on tiled floor, ate under the table, urinated&defecated by the door leading outside, and outlived 11 others.
I name this Blog after him.The brown rabbit who shared the same skin color as his surrogate family.Resilient&adaptive.Adventurous in his own rabbit way. October 2002 - April 2007

MEOW.

I know I haven't been updating my Padawan blog recently. I would like to update you guys more often but I just end up sleeping during my free time.

Now that I am finally here... let me write a quick update. Summer classes will be over tomorrow. I'm about to face another chapter of my preschool life. For the past two weeks, I have slowly been turning myself into an entrepreneur. Zipping events have also been keeping me excited. And I have to start thinking about my thesis soon. VERY SOON.
Oh, I am keeping my fingers crossed for several things and I will blog about them someday ;-)

sheltering some mayas

Three days ago, rain started to pour. There were some drizzling then there were some slightly bigger raindrops but I haven't witnessed a full-blown rainy day yet.

This afternoon, it poured again. A small group of lovely mayas found shelter in our garage. If I had the same gift that photographers had, I would have taken their photos and blogged them here. But since I did not have that talent, I am hoping that you could picture the little mayas waiting for the rain to stop as I describe how that brief moment was.

Amidst the sound of raindrops, there they were, chirping. There were three of them but I'm guessing that there were more aside from the ones within my sight. Their chirping was louder than usual maybe because I was closer to them than how I typically am to them in any given day. It was either that or there were really more than three mayas enjoying their newfound shelter. Or it could be both. And then they were gone because the rainpour was short and sweet. More like a teaser. A preview of what to expect for the next coming months.

Remember how hot it has been for the past weeks or so? Now, the rain has begun.

I've been writing about temperature changes in my posts, which means that the changes are noticeable. More than being noticeable, they are bothering me.

And it's not the grabe-hassle-naman kind of bothering. It's the this-is-weird-and-something -wrong-must-be-happening-to-the-world kind.

I tell this to my friends often. I'm not sure whether they take me seriously or not. The summer sun is so hot that it ends up evaporating so much water. Eventually, they condense into clouds. And when the clouds could not take it any longer, precipitation a.k.a. rain occurs. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the water cycle as we learned in gradeschool.

I like simple explanations. First, because they work. Second, because parsimony wins my heart.

So many days have been freakishly hot and dry (check out my blog archive or the weather reports). Let us brace ourselves because it will be freakishly wet and cold for the next coming months. I am not predicting this from nothing. As the saying goes, a certain bird told me this.

Eleksyon na sa Lunes.

For some reason, a lot of people I've been speaking with are not voting or have not registered and thus cannot vote. How sad. It's not simply because they do not care. Most of them feel bad about it too. Everyone has a reason. And I leave it at that for now.

To all those who are voting, let us vote wisely. Prepare your crib notes better known as THE KODIGO.

I think this is the only time that everyone is encouraged to have a KODIGO.
Obviously, we don't want to make a mistake by electing wrong people into governance. Sadly, even a kodigo does not assure us that.

Vote wisely.

Come in, May

I can feel summer getting hotter and work getting bigger. I no longer know how to define work nowadays. It has turned into bits and pieces of things that I love to do. I don't think it's apt to call it work anymore. Like love, it has turned indefinable.

I attended the wake of a friend's dad. As with most wakes, people come in to mourn or to send out condolences. But wakes have turned into a form of reunion. You see people whom you haven't seen for so long. You talk about what you've been doing and how everything is from the time you last saw each other (God knows when). Personally, I find comfort in giving answers that don't need further explanations. A preschool teacher. A masteral student. A medical student. A college professor. Whatever the answer is, if it's aligned with one's previous concepts of the self, it's all easily understood. What I realized the other night (atleast for myself) was that there are just some things that are slightly more difficult to explain to old friends. And somehow, the things that need further explanations are the things I find extremely enjoyable.

Franco asked me last night why I was not blogging. Apparently, he checked my site and was suprised how the frequency of my posts has dwindled recently. He was used to this girl who has been pestering him before (almost a year ago) to drop by a certain site everyday. That girl seemed to have disappeared behind a cloud and took another form. Just to surprise him with somethin-something, here I am again.

Spindependence 3 was a BIG SUCCESS! Thank you to all those who came! Photos are available for viewing HERE.

But if you want another artsy perspective of the event, there's a site with beautiful Spindependence 3 photos. Click candid creations by Darwin Andres.

Last Saturday, I had an interesting and brief trip to Hotel Pontefino in Batangas with Migui (yahoo, thank you for driving baby back migs), Mic, and Ramir! Please watch the four of us as we represent PlanetZips with our fire and ribbon performances this coming Friday (May 11) on Studio 23's BREAKFAST at 6:00-7:30 in the morning.

To all those who want to support KOINE THEATER FOUNDATION, please buy tickets and watch their SCHOLARS' NIGHT on MAY 26! :)

Allow me to copy-paste the email I received from Director Niel de Mesa:

This Summer help 7 heroes change the face of poverty!
Watch INVENIO, Koiné’s 7th Anniversary Scholars’ Night Theater Spectacle!
After being unceremoniously evicted from their old venue (by building managers who thought the poor they served as nuisance), Koiné fights unflaggingly to continue its efforts of serving the poor with their absolutely FREE performing arts classes. This year’s 7th anniversary theatrical spectacle will be the biggest gathering of Koiné Scholars and celebrities ever! Palanca-Award winning writer and composer, Niel de Mesa’s INVENIO (showing on May 26, 2006 7:30pm at the SM Megamall Cinema 9) is a prologue to his sci-fi epic, “Net-Worth Chronicles” set to be staged later within the year.
The futuristic story revolves around the bleak fate of underprivileged children who were separated from their parents and resettled in Railroad-121. The local government have developed a comprehensive system to eradicate poverty by installing each citizen with a “net-worth chip” able to determine any individual’s liquid assets. Since, money is wire-transferred from person to person through mundane business transactions—in this economy driven country—anyone whose net-worth falls to zero will self-destruct. Seven combat-trained children, from the phalanx of poor kids detained in Railroad 121, will attempt to rescue their parents and elders who, they figured, will inevitably become test subjects of this new nerve chip.
The show will feature showstoppers by Koiné Regular, Elite, and Mission Station scholars in Taguig, Tondo, West Triangle, and Bago Bantay (as well as the Koiné VFT Artists from the Koiné Nueva Ecija chapter). Guest celebrities like Aiza Seguerra, Karylle, and many more other celebrities are also set to join the performance.

Tickets are prized at Php500, 300, 200. For tickets call 433.7886 or 09179726514 or log on to www.amazingkoineshows.com.
